Orchiopexy Surgery | Corrected Testicle Descent

Orchiopexy is a surgery a lot of people in the mainstream might not be aware of, but there’s no question that those males who need it know all about it.

Moorgate Urology are proud to be local providers of this important cosmetic surgery and we hope that if you have an issue that requires this surgery, we want you to feel like you can talk to us and that we can help you get the treatment you want to look and feel normal.
As a side note, orchiopexy is also the name of the surgery used to treat testicular torsion in certain cases when the painful problem is caught early, but we focus on the commercial side of correcting testicular descent, not emergency situations to treat those types of quasi-emergency situations.

Corrected Testicle Descent

While most males don’t have this issue, there are some cases when a guy growing up will find himself in a situation where one testicle drops but the other never descends from the scrotum. Sometimes this causes long-term discomfort and pain and sometimes it doesn’t, but either way it causes an unnatural occurrence that can make a man self conscious of his appearance and really does a number on the self-confidence scale.

Our professional cosmetic surgeons know how to take care of this issue and have you looking and feeling normal in relatively short order. Don’t let worry, embarrassment, or shame keep you from getting the help we are happy to provide you!

What You Can Expect

Each case is actually a little different when it comes to orchiopexy. Whether the testicles that haven’t descended are in the scrotum, groin, or abdomen make a great deal of difference when it comes to figuring out what is needed for surgery. The surgery is a one day event that results in an out patient result, but this isn’t easy on the body. You will need to have someone who can drive you to and from your appointment, or at least have a taxi on hand to make sure you get here and get home safely.
Most of the time the surgery requires just a couple small incisions and some minor adjustments. We try to keep it as low impact as possible, but there are also some rare times when two separate surgery appointments might be required to straighten everything out back to what it is supposed to be like.
Don’t go another day losing self esteem or feeling like a freak or outcast because of a physical issue that you had no control over. We can help correct that and get your body looking and feeling like it should.

vasectomy reversal surgery

While vasectomies and vasectomy reversal surgeries make many men nervous, the truth is that they are safe and effective procedures.

reason for Vasectomy Reversal
At the time maybe it felt like the right decision. You didn’t know if you wanted any more children, and in fact maybe you thought for sure you wouldn’t so you had a vasectomy. A lot may have changed since then. Maybe you have a new wife after a divorce or maybe other life events made you realize your family just isn’t complete yet. The good news is that when you make that decision we offer vasectomy reversal services to help you get back in the saddle again.

Just What Is a Vasectomy Reversal ?

Vasectomy-Reversal-Surgery-UK

A vasectomy reversal in most cases is a relatively simple procedure. The far majority of the time this is an outpatient procedure, meaning you will be able to go home the same day the surgery is performed.
When you had the original vasectomy the pathway for the sperm to reach the semen was cut. Imagine a bridge being washed out by a river so cars on one side can’t get to the other, and it’s the same basic concept. Having the procedure reversed is like having a new bridge put up where the old one “washed out.”
What You Can Expect from the Procedure
The entire surgery will generally be done in the office. Some type of anesthesia will be used, and depending on the preference of our professionals in judging your situation you might be awake during the procedure, but you won’t be in any pain. The reversal itself can take anywhere from two to four hours and we’ll have you rest and recover for a bit under our supervision to make sure everything post op goes smoothly before you can go home that day.
There will be mild to moderate levels of pain, discomfort, and swelling over the next two to three weeks, with the worst being in the days right after. Within about two or three weeks most people will recover completely and be able to get back to the full range of normal activities, including sexual activity.

Is the Reversal Procedure Effective ?

This question is harder because it can vary based on the person, the patient’s age, and how long ago the vasectomy was. If you’re young to middle aged and the vasectomy was within the last three years there’s an exceptional chance you will be fully fertile again in a very short time.
If you are older and the vasectomy was more than a decade ago, there will be more obstacles to getting back to being able to have children naturally. This doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but if that’s the situation you find yourself in then it is very important to talk with one of our specialists and we can see what treatments might realistically be best for you.

Moorgate Urology Offering Full Frenuloplasty Services

Moorgate Urology Offering Full Frenuloplasty Services

worried out your tight Frenulum
worried about your tight Frenulum?
While it’s not nearly as well known a medical procedure as many other corrective procedures, for many males a frenuloplasty could be the best treatment to help take care of an abnormally short frenulum of the prepuce of the penis, a condition that not only causes self confidence issues because of appearance but also can cause severe pain to the male and make certain popular sexual positions uncomfortable or even painful.
There’s no reason to let a problem with your frenulum prevent you from enjoying everything life has to offer. This abnormality might be uncomfortable, but it is something that is often very fixable and can be taken care of with a simple procedure. Talk with one of our doctors to see if this might be the solution to your problems.

Frenuloplasty Surgery Preparation

There are certain things you need to prepare for before the day of the surgery. One of the first things to do is stop smoking. While overall complications are rare the majority of the time, there seems to be one common factor that actually shot up the risk for later complications, and that was smoking. If you’re looking at a frenuloplasty you need to stop smoking as early before the surgery as possible, and you need to remain smoke free during and after the surgery, as well.
Since anesthesia will almost certainly be used, you need to strictly follow any instructions given by our doctors about not eating or drinking before hand. Anesthesia is very tricky and it is critical for the patient’s own safety that all preparation instructions are followed to the letter.
Depending on what we anticipate in your surgery we may ask you to use certain soaps or shampoos to hit a thorough level of disinfectant before the big day. We want to set the stage for every single part of the procedure (including home recovery) to be as safe for our patients as possible.

Serious Surgery

This isn’t a same day procedure like reversing a vasectomy. We will need to talk about using anesthesia, and possibly a spinal block and in some cases even a penile block. This is a lot to prepare for, and helps to show why the procedure needs to be taken seriously at every stage.
We understand that frenuloplasty can be a bit frightening, especially for patients who know they need something to be done but are afraid of what might happen if the surgery doesn’t work to relieve the pain. That being said, we want to encourage our patients to take this procedure seriously, but not to get so worked up to scare themselves out of doing anything.
